For the next few weeks I'll be posting a few salvaged sessions from the much-missed Andy Kershaw shows, mostly from his tenure at Radio One. In a cosily nostalgic vein, I'll be posting the sessions every Thursday, the day Kershaw's shows were initially aired on the 10pm to midnight slot that had previously been occupied by Peel for over a decade. If wannabe Anglo-Saxons can perform battle re-enactments across this green and peasant land, I'm sure the psychological damage in broadcast re-enactment will be minimal.
Can't find much information on G&G, but there are several clips circulating on Youtube at present. The duo hailed from Barbados and, perhaps unsurprisingly, performed in a calypsonian stylee, both as a duo and individually. As far as I'm aware tis was their only session for the BBC, first aired in spring 1991 and then repeated on 1 March 1992 where these recordings were extracted.
